History
Max Hübner (1866-1946), owner of a flower shop in Berlin, founded the "flowers donations brokerage organization" on 17 September 1908. That same year, it had almost 98 stores. By 1921, there were 1363 members. In 1927, international Fleurop came into existence. It was converted into a limited company in the year 1937.
In 1946, shortly after the end of World War II, "Fleurop Interflora", "Interflora British Unit" and the "Florists' Transworld Delivery Association" were merged. In order to simplify the billing, an artificial currency called 'fleurin' was introduced. This artificial currency was based on Swiss Francs. After the introduction of the Euro, this artificial currency was aligned with the Euro.
"Fleurop Interflora" is currently represented in 150 countries and each country has legally separate department.

The System
In the 90s, the company enabled its customers to make purchases online. The customers can search for products according to various categories, seasons and prices. The flowers and bouquets ordered by the customers are not physically sent from company's office. Instead, a network of florists is used to deliver fresh flower greetings to recipient's address.
Competitors
Growth potential and high profit margins have attracted numerous companies to the online flower industry. The competition for the company has grown considerably over the past few years. Euroflorist is one of the major competitors of Fleurop Interflora.
